Category: Let's talk
THIS TOPIC is DIRECTLY ALL about HOW NOT to SELF-ADVOCATE, ONLY IF the ODDS are MORE in favor of YOU LOSING than of you WINNING, IF you even win, at ALL. THIS PAST WEEKEND created an EXPERIENCE that resulted in a TWO-WEEK SUSPENTION, affective as of THIS PAST MONDAY, APR. 25, OFFICIALLY ENDING on MONDAY, MAY 9, upon the return back to the SAME PROGRAM that I happen to attend for (LET'S call him) IRVING, since I don't have the permision of those involved to use their ACTUAL NAMES. The CAUSE took place at the SAME CAMP that I ALSO attend, but wasn't ABLE to attend THIS PAST WEEKEND'S session, due to a PREVIOUSLY PLANNED EVENT that I was invited to, and ACCORDING to the WITNESSES that WERE there, IRVING, LILA, KYLE, and SALLY, who happen to be my PROGRAMMATES, if you will, as earlier STATED, were JUST FINISHED with DINNER, UNPACKING, and SETTLING IN, and decided to hang out in the lounge of the dorm that they were chosen for, and since it was LILA'S VERY FIRST TIME, attending THIS particular camp, and SALLY,
who was as EQUALLY EAGER to show LILA around, as THIS, for HER (SALLY), THIRD time at camp, ALL FOUR were socializing CASUALLY, enjoying the moment.--TO BE CONTINUED, PERHAPS TOMORROW, FRIDAY, or DURING the WEEKEND
I like chocolate.
I don't like it, I love it! :)
Milk chocolate is the best. Especially with fruit, like strawberries, or in that
stuff called bark. I love that stuff.
I like dark chocolate better myself, but if you were to twist my arm milk chocolate would do.
Chocolate-covered cherries and strawberries are to die for, but my oh my, the pimples...
I actually had a chocolate covered orange slice once. They dehydrated the
orange slice, and then covered it in chocolate. it was surprisingly good. The
bitterness of the orange peel blended perfectly with the sweetness of the
chocolate. I was skeptical, but I highly suggest it if you ever come across one.
No, no, Chocolate should only be had in a Starbukcs brew, like a Latte.
If you put chocolate in a latte Wayne, it is no longer a latte.
chocolate covered filberts, or hazelnuts as most the country calls them. Seems only those of us born and raised in Oregon call them filberts.
I love chocolate, but I want something with it. Reese's cups are the best, since they've got the peanut butter too.
Tell that to the folks at Starbucks. Lol
Now back to chocolate.
Filberts? I've never heard that term. Its odd how many different names nuts
have. I once got in a lot of trouble for calling brazil nuts n***r toes. That was
what my family called them, and I didn't know any better back then. I had no
clue what that word meant. Weird how language works.
But chocolate covered hazzle nuts sounds tasty. I love chocolate covered
almonds too.
chocolate covered macadamia nuts and yes filberts are hazelnuts in Oregon. actually technically they are two subspecies of the same genus. I didn't think you really wanted to know but just had to share.
I love Peanut Butter M&Ms. Just sayin'.
I just got back from buying a shit ton of unhealthy snackage at Walmart. Well, ok, I did buy a bucket of chopped fruit and some celary sticks. Pay no mind to the spray cheese I bought to fill said celery sticks, and pay no mind to the strawberry cupcakes and powdered donuts hiding behind the gallon of milk in my basket.
Them macadamias is addictive.
Mmm, are you all talking about that milk chocolate with strawberry pieces in the center? If so, I've been looking for it since a teacher bought it for me at school, and I have no clue what it is.
And, mmm, chocolate covered nuts! :) I probably need to look on amazon for all that.
Hmm, I don't know of anything that is just chocolate with strawberry pieces
Lakeria. I've only had whole strawberries dipped in chocolate.
I submit that pretty much everything is made better by being dipped in
chocolate. Even es presso beans, which are nuggets of god's love, are made
better by being dipped in chocolate. There is a shop in the city I went to college
in that sells chocolate covered peppers. I never tried them, but apparently
they're good.
ANYWAY, BACK to the MAIN TOPIC (due to my FREQUENT MEETINGS with my HOUSING CARE-PROVIDER, which involves AT-TIMES-DAYS OFF from my PROGRAM, as in TODAY, for example, in order to get ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS which COULD and DOES REQUIRE having to spend ex-amount of WAITING time for such to be RETRIEVED, I MIGHT put THIS, as well as ANY FUTURE TOPIC on hold until I have enough time to resume at a later time): according to IRVING, he asked LILA at one point if whether or not he was allowed to give her a HUG, which ABSOLUTELY WASN'T SEXUALLY-INTENDED, WHATSOEVER, and she said that it was OK, just as according to KYLE, who claimed that HIS arm was around her, but his LATER TWO CLAIMS at SEPARATE TIMES were that his arm was resting on the back of the COUCH that they were on in ONE account, and in ANOTHER was that he was in the BATHROOM at the time that IRVING asked LILA'S PERMISSION to hug her, to which she CONSENTED. As IRVING turned TOWARD LILA, reaching with his LEFT hand, he INADVERTENTLY touched one of her BREASTS, to which SALLY accusingly exclaimed, "HEY! WATCH THOSE HANDS! I SAW THAT!" IMMEDIATELY, IRVING RIGHTFULLY DEFENDED his TOTALLY-UNINTENDED ACTION by telling BOTH of them that it was an INNOCENT MISTAKE, and then JUST AS IMMEDIATELY, he apologized to LILA for the MISHAP, which she EXCUSED, COMPLETELY UNSCATHED, which was a CLEAR SIGNAL to IRVING that it was STILL OK to hug her as he ORIGINALLY INTENDED, which he did, as HIS way of helping to make her feel welcome to FINALLY be in camp, where she'd been EAGERLY ANTICIPATING for a LONG TIME to be with her FRIENDS, and from THAT instance on, EVERYTHING was PICTURE-PERFECT-NORMAL for the REMAINDER of the ENTIRE WEEKEND, until SUNDAY AFTERNOON, when the trip ended, and everyone returned to the location from where they departed FOR camp, just TWO DAYS PRIOR, and while IRVING was at one of the vending machines to purchase an ITEM, he overheard SALLY say to LILA that "if (fictitious name) SUSAN asks me if I had a good time in CAMP, I'M gonna tell her ""NO," because I didn't like what I saw him DO, and HE'S gonna be in a WHOLE LOT of TROUBLE, and he MIGHT not come BACK (whether she meant "to PROGRAM" or "to CAMP" is unknown)!" SURPRISED, IRVING walks over to LILA, QUITE CONCERNED, and asks: "LILA, am I in any TROUBLE?" She replied, "Well, JUST BEHAVE, and DON'T DO it AGAIN." By THIS time, UTTERLY CONFUSED, IRVING repeats the question to SALLY, who said: "I'm not gett'n' into it, but I think you ARE in trouble." IRVING protests: "If THIS has anything to do with FRIDAY NIGHT, you ALREADY KNOW that I NEVER meant to do that PURPOSELY. Why are you making it into something that it NEVER WAS?" Sally totally ignored him. KYLE and his girlfriend, MELINDA, happened to be nearby, and overheard, to which they intervened by asking Sally to NOT spread lies to the STAFF, ESPECIALLY, because of how they COULD, which they CONSEQUENTLY DID, REACT, but she STILL ignored, until her and LILA'S ride HOME arrived, and as KYLE and MELINDA were helping them to their transportation with their LUGGAGE, and IRVING, HIMSELF, was leaving for HIS girlfriend's HOUSE, according to HIS account, he THOUGHT that he overheard SALLY say to KYLE and MELINDA, as they were walking further AHEAD, that she decided to finally change her mind and NOT report the supposed incident, but he was COMPLETELY UNSURE if that was REALLY what she'd SAID, so when he caught up to KYLE (Melinda briefly stepped away), he wanted VARIFICATION, but KYLE said that Sally was talking to MELINDA, ONLY, so HE wasn't sure, EITHER, but agreed to make a three-way call to their worker, SUSAN'S voice-mail to INITIALLY REPORT the situation EXACTLY the way it ACTUALLY HAPPENED, which later that DAY, they DID, while IRVING was already at his GIRLFRIEND'S, and KYLE and MELINDA were already on THEIR ride home, THEMSELVES. It was THEN that KYLE'S FIRST account of his arm, being around LILA, was mentioned. The VERY NEXT MORNING, as the REST of us were in the community room, socializing while waiting for the first combination of groups to BEGIN, and it was planned that there would be a trip to a nearby park for a lunch PICNIC, IRVING arrived JUST IN TIME to catch SUSAN as she was hurrying off to her office, but she managed to tell him that she got his message, and that she'd address it with him MOMENTARILY. As Irving entered the community room to join the rest of us, LILA happily greeted him, while EAGERLY RAVING about the ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC TIME that she had over the past weekend, as it being her VERY FIRST TIME at camp, DEFINITELY looking forward to ENDLESS MORE TIMES to come.--TO BE CONTINUED WHENEVER
Turricane, I always used to think that growing up, but it sure has led to discussions over the years.
And lol my daughter and her friends never call them filberts.
And lol Cody to that term for Brazilnuts. I grew up hearing the word "toenails" for them.
Ok, but please, and I'm talking to my own kind of yanks / northwest types, please, pecans are pecans, not pee cans. Pronounced puh cauns.
Also, I still say pop, not soda. Soda is what you put in your fridge, clean with, or use in cooking.
I still must call brazil nuts n***r toes, if I want to get some, so don't feel bad.
If I call them brazil nuts, I'll get ask what do I mean.
Laughing.
Now, you takes some of these and some chocolate, and you got yourself a different snack.
I believe we started that term. There blackish brown, and sort of look like toes.
We did most of the harvesting, and well.
Laughing.
Ever heard of chocolate cream drops? A little girl came to our school once and asked for them by the same name as what Y'all are referring to Brazil nuts as, and woohoo did she get in trouble. My god, a 5 year old girl called something by the name she knew it as, and...
Cody, they're these chocolates. They're real milk chocolate bars, kind of like Lindt textured, and there's one with cookie and strawberry in the center. Soooooooo freaking good!
Let's go with other food regionalisms.
Anyone offended by calling noodles noodles? I never knew someone who was, till I met some New York Italians.
A lot of people think this is odd, but growing up my parents would make us kids rice with milk and sugar. White rice, I think it was. Anyway, I made some for my daughter and her friends, and one of the friends' moms reacted as though I'd done something in between gross / uncouth and feeding the kids dog food.
Oh my goodness, I love white rice made with milk and sugar. Add some cinnamon and butter and you've really got something good. My son calls it Special Rice and always begs for it when he's sick. lol
Hell ya. Some rice like that is the best way to eat it unless you got dirty rice, and well.
But, that ain't chocolate. Lol
Dirty rice is gooooood. Also really like fried rice with soy sauce.
Yes, I love breakfast rice. Put a few raisins in it too. delicious!
I agree, I love sweet rice. We used to put dried cherries in it too.
How about pastries? I tend to think the French and Italian ones are the best. Napoleons, cannolis, those layered French things I can’t spell, and which I’ve only had once by mistake, but never found their like again? Chocolate mousse cake? Tiramissu? Lemon cream cake? Oh, droooooooooolllllllllll!!!!!!!!!
I wholeheartedly agree though I would add german to the list. When I was in
Paris, we had these breakfast pastries, or probably dinner pastries we uncouth
americans ate for breakfast, that were like a flaky roll with a layer of chocolate
in them. I can't find them in america, probably because I don't know what
they're called, but they were better than sex.
Now,, there's an interesting debate! Are French, German and Italian pastries better than sex? Hmm. Has anybody ever had sex while eating a pastry? I'd like to try that.
I think that kinda depends on the sex, doesn't it? We'd have to establish some
sort of a base value for sex. Like, are we talking sex with the best lover you've
ever had, or just sex in general? And, are we talking a pastry made by a
professional pastry chef, or just one you grabbed in a gas station somewhere? I
think there are too many variables. I think the one thing we can agree on
though, is that both sex and pastries are improved by adding chocolate.
Almost anything is improved by adding chocolate... well, maybe not spaghetti, but...
Well, even if we concede that what constitutes a really great pastry and really great sex are both matters of opinion, then we still have a conundrum. Me, I can get a really great pastry anytime I want by going to the Florentine Pastry Shop. Haven’t had a good screw in a while though, so if it’s great sex versus a great pastry, then I have to wonder: Will I go for what’s easiest to get, or the most exciting and amazing? I’ll take exciting and amazing.
Hmm, but what if you met someone while having a pastry at this place, and
ended up having sex? would the pastry be better, or the sex?
Soda is what you drink; I've never called it pop and never will. Pop is what you do with gum, as well as a kind of music.
lol I obviously need to catch up on my pastry game, and I believe Mexicans have some type of sweet rice like that. A classmate bought me some back in high school.
Are you saying that you have really good sex or really bad pastries Lakeria?
That would depend. If it were the guy of my dreams I was having sex with, then I’d say yes,, the sex would be better. But that would also depend on which guy of my dreams; there are a few of them after all, slut that I wish I were. I mean, you can't just stick to one kind of pastry, so, ***
But what if it was the pastry of your dreams too? Is the sex of your dreams
better or worse than the pastry of your dreams?
Um, if it were the pastry and the guy of my dreams, I'd probably die very happy. Especially if it were both at once.
Well I think we have our answer. Pastries are equally as good as sex.
Sex is better than pastry. No calories. It even burns a few if the sex is good.
Lots of sex equals lots of pleasure. Lots of pastry equals widening buns.
Laughing.
Ya know? I can't gainsay that. More pastries equals widening buns especially. But if you're eating the pastries while you're screwing, then maybe the calorie intake would be canceled out by the exercise you're getting from your romp. And maybe,, depending on how hard the romp is, you'll burn more calories through sex than you're taking in by eating the pastries. Boy, this topic got interesting.
lol Alrighty then, and Cody, none of your fucking business! :d
wait, what if you're a fan of a nice set of buns? Then wouldn't pastries be the
preferred thing? I mean, if you get nice buns by having a nice bun or two, then
wouldn't the pastries lead to good sex, making them equally as good?
I'm kind of ashamed of myself for making that pun.
I actually thought about it, but decided against it. But that depends on if the quantity of pastries you eat turn you into a tractor ass because you don't have any control.
leo I have a question. if new York Italians are offended by noodles and they invented pasta in the first place what the heck are we supposed to call them?
You call them wrong. Italians didn't invent pasta any more than Americans
invented pie.
mmmm I'm thinking of that cho coted orange; Strawberries are good, but orange? wow, so good!
Might have to google some of these. :)
Turricane they call it pasta ...
What do they call egg noodles? Or many other kinds of noodles?
And, Cody's right. The Japanese had rice noodles a pair of thousand years ago at least.
I want Icecream! It's gonna be a hot day!
Laughing
Butter Pecan.
Maple nut.
yumnmnmnmnmnmnmn, chocolate! my favorite! I love almond joy and kit kat!
I also love a snicker bar too! Omg, chocolate covered bananas? Yumnmnmn!
chocolate covered strawberies are something to die for! :)
rocky ro! omg, the best icecream ever!!!!!!! and cookie dough?
Cookies and cream!
Hazel nut gellatto in a stem glass with espresso in the bottom. Nothing finer after a really good meal. Part of me wishes I were still in Manhattan for a weekend at one of my favorite Italian restaurants; one of those tiny little places on Park Ave.
omg, yes! you ever tasted the chocolate chip coffee from Star Bucks? omg, I
just love that coffee! just don't get a huge one. you'll get hyper. I'm saying
that from experience.
Have you ever had Caribou coffee? I love mocchas, so one time when I was still living in the Midwest where Caribou is king, they had this specialty mocha with a dash of chipotle in it. Of course, I got it with a little bit more espresso than the average person can take, and it was to die for.
Now I'm wanting to cover a banana with chocolate and then roll it in crushed nuts! Omg, so wonderful.
Hmm. Lots of interesting things you can do with bananas, actually. No, wait. Wrong bananas. Oh well.
lol! hahaha! actually, with bananas, you can toast them and drizzle them with
honey! put them in ice cream and omg, it's just heavenly! :)
well with those bananas just don't crush the nuts!
Mmmmm, bananas and nuts... Either way you wanna take it, it's all good.
Seems a little chilly to me.
Great, now I'm horney and hungry. Thanks, yall. lmao
Lol Lol.
actually, my Mum use to freeze bananas on a stick like iceblocks for us to enjoy after school. healthy and delicious! :)
my sister did that too! but, with the banana on a stick, she covered each one
with chocolate. Have you guys tasted the strawberies covered in
cheesecake? omg, just great! sister bought them and well, let's just say,
there weren't any strawberies left. :p
got to second the chocolate covered espresso beans
hmmm, cheese cake covered strawberries? hmmmm interesting. are they then rolled in graham cracker crumbs?
Yeah, I think they are. then, the cream is in the middle of the strawberry.
I't's really good!
Omg, this board will have you horney with your mouth watering. lol
Only on the zone. :d
Best part is, I don't think the OP had any idea how this topic would get hijacked!
hahahaha, I know right? he started something boring and we're like, screw it,
let's just talk about food! :d
Somebody said. "I like chocolate."
Laughing.
hahahaha, I know. that's what started people talking about food. yummy
food! :)
I want marzipan. It looks really eas to make. Anyone made it? I can't find it in
stores here in america, at least not the backwoods I live in.
Not to sound stupid, but what's that?
Its a sweet almond paste, usually flavored with fruits, but also chocolate,
coffee, that kind of thing. Its delicious.
Yum. That does sound good. Where did you encounter such yumminess?
omg, that sounds so yummy! I'll check if they have it. if they don't, I may
have to ask bro to order it.
Cody, I need to find these chocolates. One of them had that, but I don't care for it.
I've seen it in a few gourmet shops in big cities, and I had lots of it in Europe,
but its not so common here; at least not in everyday candy shops.
Yeah, pretty fancy stuff, so that would explain it.
Its not that fancy, its just not something that is popular in America.
silver lightning, you can find recipes for marzipan on the internet. all it is is almond paste with stuff added to it. up here in the northwest corner of Washington, where lots of dutch people live, you can find it in lots of stores. it is even in regular groceries like safeway. if you are interested, I can ask a friend tomorrow who is blind and has made it.
oh yes, you are also correct again. I should have said that marco polo originally allegedely brought macaroni to western civilization. good thing he did too. thanks for refreshing my faulty memory.
Cody, you are right, and I have only seen it with these nice chocolates that I keep talking about, but can't seem to get unlazy enough to ask what it is. I will have to get around to it for you and me.
I don't know anyone who doesn't love chocolate. We have a snack called Ping-Pong. its peanuts covered with a hard chocolate shell and melting chocolate. obviously shaped like a small Ping-Pong ball. lol. I love that and hershie bars. And my favourite is a choco-bomb. Its like lots of small chocolate cookies stacked up on top one another and you could just break them apart or go all in. Now I'm hungry.
omg yes! those are amazing!
there was this thing that sister bought me for my birthday. It was a bread
and inside it had this chocolate cream. outside though, it was covered in
marshmallow. I don't know what's it's called but it's so so so good! :)
Sadly for some people, they are allergic to chocolate. I fell so sorry for them.
Yesterday I made a chocolate cake with frosting, all from scratch. I think I hear it calling my name.
mmm, will you share with the zone members? hahaha! lol, that sounds so
good! yeah, me too. it's sad.
Can you ask it to call my name too?
Only thing, I'll need some cold milk to go with.
Believe it or not, I'm one that isn't crazy over chocolate. It good, but not something I get when I want good.
So, now you've heard of someone that isn't a chocolate person.
Laughing.
I had something over the Christmas. the name of it is veva puff. Its a soft cookie covered in chocolate on the bottom and on top was jelly and on top of that was marshmallow and more chocolate on top. it was so good. My favourite was the mint and strawberry. I know of people who are allergic to chocolate and I my self feel sorry for them.
Ah that sounds awesome!
Sounds sticky sweet.
Makes my teeth hurt just reading about it. Lol
yes. it comes in a tray and there's 3 rows of 6 in each line. And there's something similar its chocolate covered raisins we call them chew-chews but I think its raissinettes in America. I'm not sure if that was the correct spelling. I could mention more but I will leave that for another time.
I love Chocolate-Covered Raisins, whatever name they come with! Chocolate-Covered Almonds, too! Costco carries them.
God Bless!
Sarah
Oh dear Lord, all this talk of food ... I should be sleeping right now, but due to the power going out for a second a while ago, I'm nervous about going to bed lest something happen to my CPAP machine, as the machine doesn't have one of those three-pronged plugs.
Back to food, i've never actualy had sex, so can't give an opinion about which is better, that or chocolate. I'm starting to like dark chocolate more now, and milk chocolate is just too sweet for me.
Marzipan? Sounds lovely. and, I do love tiramisu. time to cut much of that stuff out, however, since junk food is what landed me in the current sleep apnea situation. Too much weight-gain ... I need to do something to reverse this so health problems like diabetes, elevated cholesterol and blood pressure levels don't ruin my life. I don't want to end up on blood pressure- and cholesterol-controling meds at 40, or being placed on insulin and God only knows what other scary horrors await me if i'm not careful.
Another chocolate I like is called twin it resembles a kit-kat but tastes different. And I love chuckles I can't explain what our own is really made of excepting the chocolate but I love eating that and smarties.
Is it true that famous boxer died? I can't find it on the news.
Exercise, and clean eating help your risk of having to get on these meds Reyami.
Somethings you can't help depending on your health issues, but you can absolutely make them less destructive, and less a hassle.
Exercise, eating cleaning, is difficult to get started on, but once you get over the hump, you'll be surprised what benefits you gain all around.
How do you get started with clean eating? I so badly want too, but just can't start. For example, grass fed beef vs. store bought crap.
Sarah, Muhammad Ali died Friday night.
In your case, you eat only what is good from the menu offered in your food center.
I'd need to know how it is set up, but I'll bet they offer a choice of fresh fruits, salad makings, like that.
At home, you would need to buy things that are less greasy, or whatever it is.
Lets say you go to a fast food place. You order the burger, but you don't eat the bread, or instead order the fish, or chicken and eat the bread.
Some even have a veggie choice.
Sure, on the chicken or fish, the breads not the best, but you've not had the beef that is sometimes greasy.
Maybe instead of eating at these places, you simply don't, but go to a Subway, or sandwich shop instead.
It just requires some thought as to what you are going to put in your mouth.
Pretty soon, you don't even go to say McDonalds, you go to Subway, or Chapolti.
I don't think I spelled the second one correctly, but you get the idea.
We have other sandwich shops, and such, you just have to find what is available in your area.
You cook more instead of eating out too, or eat what they call raw, meaning a salad with several veggies in it you make yourself.
You eat wheat bread or whole grain instead of Wonder white.
No dark choc for me; milk all the way which is kinda shameful as dark can be a bit better for you. :)
I actually don't buy much meat. A good start is purging your kitchen of the stuff you don't want to eat, but make sure you can find good alternatives to ensure you get enough nutrition. i'm told couponing is a big, big help for going vegetarian or vegan. still very, very new to this. starting with using coconut oil as a substitute for butter.
Eeewww coconut oil tastes like soap.
You need some meat. Lean beef, chicken, like that.
Some people that go vegan have other problems due to it, some don't, so I guess it depends.
I personally never use subs for anything.
When you start doing that, you sometimes losethings you need.
Less butter for example is better then a sub.
This is a hot debated topic among people like myself.
Most bodybuilders swear by living or eating as close to the earth as possible.
If you think about it, people that lived on farms, or who ate what nature provided have fewer health problems then city people, or people that can buy all these new fangled things.
Laughing.
More exercise, good wholesome food, but in smaller amounts.
I quit smoking in 2010! Yea! That was really great , but since then I have gained about 25 lbs! Never been overweight in my life until now! As of last week, I started a different way of eating! Not a diet, but a different way of eating as in a change of menu! Only fresh raw veggies such as celery, carrots, cucumbers and green leaf lettuce. All cut up and stored in containers for easy access at any time I'm hungry! I buy fresh turkey breast already cooked and slice in thin slices for my main protein. Also, I boil eggs and eat one for breakfast with a piece of fruit and a small glass of oj. Found coconut almonds for snacks. Also found a really yummy yogart! Wasn't drinking enough water, so I've also increased my water in-take. After just 1 week, I've already lost 4 lbs. Now if I could only be as disciplined with exercising! Anyone got any ideas on how to get motivated?
What you really need is to be smashed in the head 30 or 40 times with a golf club. That'll fuckin' motivate ya.
That last entry was more than a bit harsh! Thankfully. I'm not thin skinned!
Oh yeah! I am very hard headed! Ha! Ha!
:) JK. George Carlin quote. No malice.
Isn’t it fun how you quite a bad habit, then gain weight?
Seem counterproductive, doesn’t it?
The problem is you’ve stopped walking to the store to get your smokes. Start walking like you did before, just get forgetful once you’re at the store.
Laughing.
Maybe grab a fruit, or something good to snack on, like that bottle of water.
Walk back home.
Do that every time you did when you were smoking, and you’ll find the weight going.
There are other reasons that happened, but that’s boring. This explanations more fun.
Hard headeds a good thing, but not for that.
Now, what was I saying?
Laughing.
I wish the pool would open. I eat plenty of smoothies and salads and less meat than I used to, but when it floods like this I can't go swimming. I know we need the rain, but still.
But seriously though, a walk each day is good. I'm a bit soft in the belly myself so I go out walking whenever I can depending on the weather, and also being hard of hearing makes it difficult at times. Especially crossing streets.
Great suggestions, will have to start this before I go back to school. I have begun seeking a nutritionist.
Unless you have unusual medical conditions you don't need one. You know the difference between good and crappy food. When you eat a crappy diet you'll tend to feel that way.
I like mixing dark chocolate with milk chocolate. Taste really good. For the people who like yogurt there's a yogurt drink called yogoles. If I drink it around breakfast time I don't have to eat any food. Its really good.
I melted Hersheys Kisses in my coffee once. Big mistake. Bitter, and smelled like melted crayons.
Coffee + a shot of Jack Daniels = beauty.
switch food out for food.
instead of ground hamburger get ground turkey and get the kind that has less than 10 percent fat, it will say something like 90 or 93 percent lean.
skimmed milk really does not taste much different than whole milk but a lot of milk that is 2 percent, 1 percent and skim adds more sugar to it to make it taste better so whole milk might be healthier but just avoid having any unless your not eating anything else.
fresh veggies are better than frozen veggies, which are better than canned veggies
frozen veggies last for a long time in the freezer and can be found at great prices when on sell.
use tortillas instead of sliced bread. If you rather bread, have what is called an open face sandwhich. This is a sandwich that only uses a single slice of bread.
Get the fat free, plain yogurt and add in frozen fruit and raw organic honey not that store stuff which isn't even honey.
My fave brand is Fage
Yogurt with fruit and stuff added in to it is also loaded with sugar.
Great snacks is fruit and nuts
eggs are great to eat. Make a fried egg on a single slice of toast for your morning meal.
Omelets made with 1 whole egg and a quarter cup of egg whites or egg whites from two egg. 1 handful of frozen spinach and a small bit of shredded cheese.
Mix well. sit to side.
Place a small pot that has a lid on stove and turn to medium.
I personally like to add a small amount of butter instead or cooking spray.
When it gets hot dump the egg mix in to the pot and cover with the lid.
turn the stove on low and let it cook four a few minutes, you will get use to how long according to your stove and how many eggs you use.
When it is finish, turn off the stove, hold the pot in one hand by its handle and the lid with the other hand and hold it fermly together and give a quick shake up and down to unstick the eggs.
The eggs are unstuck and can be dumped on to a plate with no extra help by you.
Salmon and sweet potatoes is a great dinner meal. I sometimes will roast broccoli or something with it.
I love this bread I get from the grocery store. It is a sour doe I believe, It is rounded, and flavored like tomatoes, herbs, and something.
I cut it in half like a hanberger bun and make a home made pizza with it.
I will use spaghetti sauce since I haven't gotten around to making home made yet but it is in the works, fresh shredded cheese and topped with veggies I cooked myself.
I satay whatever I have on hand, Banana peppers, bel peppers, chili peppers, onions, and garlic. I sometimes will roast them for a previous meal and use the rest for pizza the next day.
I will use these roasted veggies on a baked potato and have that as a meal.
I rarely eat junk food and if I happen to get any, I put it way up in the top of the cabnets so it is harder for me to reach verses the stuff in the middle or lower shelfs. I am a bit short.
I like to make this meal too.
A cup of shrimp, place in baggy with a spoon or so of lemon juice. Give it a good shake. Cook in pan for a couple of minutes. Set to the side.
I use frozen broccoli if I do not have fresh, add the broccoli in the pan and poor a small bit of low sodium soi sauce on top and cook til finished. I have this with left over potato, or make a bit of rice or add more veggies whatever....
I made this next meal but in a bread pan as one large loaf, it was great.
Take your cupcake pan beyond baked goods! Prepared in a standard 12-cup muffin tray, these mini meatloaves are automatically portion-controlled for you, making them a perfect entrée for people watching their weight.

to cool to room temperature.
In a large bowl, add the ground turkey, egg whites, cooled vegetables, ketchup, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper. Using your hands, mush the ingredients together until they are fully incorporated. Divide the meat mixture between 8 muffin cups, smoothing the tops of each mini-meatloaf to make it level. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
Its a lot but maybe someone will like some of it.
Back to the topic of chocolate though.
I had this cake a week ago, it was lite and fluffy chocolate cake, topped with what tasted like chocolate pudding, and loads of wipped cream and sprinkles of crushed peanut brittle on top. It was chilled and amazing.
Will you come take care of me Nicky?
Your cooking habits sound great.
LOL. I feel like I can barely take care of myself right now. I am in one of those sleep struggles. I am always asleep and when I am awake I am on the verge of falling asleep again. It is going on 4 weeks with this now.
The great thing though about sleeping so much is I am hardly hungry and therefore don't cook much and don't need to grocery shop even less.
to add to the list of wonderful foods.
Take pork chops or pork.
marinate it in equal parts soi sauce and Worcestershire sauce. I usually already have it cut up in to bite size pieces and only let it set for about 10 or 15 minutes.
I use bel peppers and I like to use the rainbow ones, Red, Yellow and Orange colors.
They have more of a sweet taste to them.
I turn the pan on high heat to get it really hot. once it is hot I turn it down on medium.
I toss the pork in thepan and let it cook for a few minutes. stir the whole while and less the meets edges carmalize and start to glaze a bit on the edges. You will know what i am talking about once you smell and taste it.
Add in the harder veggies and cook for about 3 or 4 minutes, then you simi soft veggies and cook for about 3 or 4 minutes, then add in your soft veggies and let cook for about 2 minutes and turn on low at this point. Try to google hwo to satay each veggy and adapt.
Sometimes I will satay the onions with the pork at the beginning.
I add the food in the pan in this order and let each group cook for a few minutes before adding in the next group.
Pork, garlic cloves diced and onions,
potatoes
carrots broccoli, celery
peppers beans
tomatoes
mushrooms.
Mushrooms only need like 2 minutes and should be added in last. If you want to flavor the broccoli with soi sauce, potatoes with garlic or anything, toss them prior to adding them to the pan.
I satay onions, peppers, chopped carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, celery and sometimes potatoes and beans.
You can do this with any meet but each one will need its own marinate.
Their is great stuff you can get in the store called grill mate. I got the Montreal and did a filet mignon, it was amazing.
I have some smoked spice or something in my cabnets now and have a rack of ribs in the freezer.
Oh with the filet mignon I use my boiler pan and put chopped potatoes and carrots with some onions on the bottom of the pan. I turn the boiler on my oven and toos it in for ten minutes on one side then ten on the other side.
So I add the veggies on the bottom because it sokes up the greese and my fire alarm doesn't go off when I do.
I what you call butterfly cut the stake so it cooks all the way threw.
It is like cutting how a bagle is cut, horizontally but not completely. You can not separate the top half from the bottom half but it is still mostly cut in half.
I marinate the meet over night and even for 48 hours in the fridge at times. I flip the baggy over a few times a day to let is soke on both sides.
I put a bit of onions and maybe some of the other veggies between the meet layers I have butterflied before tossing it in to the oven.
It is amazonign.
grocery stores will sell the meet for about 50 percent off every 4 weeks. I get a few and stock up when I do get some.
I shop threw haris teeter and go online before going to the store to see what there deals are and stock on up those items and cut back on the things that aren't cheep that week.
So many typoes in that post sorry. I am rushing to hurry. My dog is demanding me. but I wanted to add, drain any extra liquid when marinating meet. and using frozen veggies verses fresh veggies will make it come out a bit soggy.
This is a serious question.
I know about the non 24, or whatever it is called, but I know another blind person that is struggling with sleep.
Seems she sleeps all the time.
Is this related, or something different?
As a rule I'd tell people that were tired all the time, especially women, they required more iron in the diet, so should take a supplement for it.
More protein for both men and women as well.
Low iron equals tired or sleepy for women.
For men, it is similar, but they also need A and D or E added.
Just interested being you've post all this healthy eating on this topic.
Why here?
Guess that's more questions?
Laughing.
all these are great suggestions. niki you sound like an amazing cook. roasting veggies is also good. for example cut up several different kinds of squash, e.g. zucchini, patty pan, yellow and/or crook necked. spread a thin layer of olive oil in apan. toss these veggies in there and coat. then if you want add red or green pepper onion and/or sliced fresh mushrooms. cook at 400 for 20 to 25 minutes.
fat doesn't make you fat. Sugar does. All the so-called low-fat foods are really high in simple carbs which are what makes you fat. The anti-meat health stuff is directly linked to Bob Barker and the Animal Liberation Front out of California. I did paleo for a number of years: lots of meat and veggies, not real big on the carbs. And as little sugar as possible.
do you guys want to know something interesting? everything and everything we see in the grocery store is corn. Not kidding, it's in the book of food delemas. *forgot the title but I'm reading it in ap environmental science*
LeoGuardian is so right. I rather whole milk over any other kind for that reason. The fat you are trying to avoid is being replaced with sugar in many things. Those packaged items that says 90 kals are just portioned in packs of 90 kals, no other difference in ingredience.
I do love to get at times the single packs of popcorn. this is great for snacking and have little to no kals but you are eating corn. Still might be better than chips but not as good as veggies. but hey, you have to live a bit. It is so much easier to add some healthy things in to your diet than to remove or totally change your diet they say. Just try adding a little here and there and see how it goes.
My biggest thing is to find healthy things that are just as easy if not easier to grab than the junk you already are eating. the reason why most people eat junk is because it is easier than cooking something healthy.
My new favorite thing is to get a small bit, like a quarter cup of milk in a cup. I use my matcha mixer as a milk frother. It is an electric wisk. I mix that thing till it has tripled in foam. I zap it in the microwave for 30 seconds and then scoop out a good bit of foam. Microwaving it willcause the foam to grow more and firm up.
I poor my coffee over it and drizzle my raw local honey on top. So delicious.
As for my sleeping.
I work Monday threw Friday during the earlier hours for 40 hours total. So come Saturday I want to sleep in. well sleeping in means I can not go to bed Saturday night as early as I need to so I can get up early enough for church on Sunday.
So I leave my home about 8 or 8:30 and go to service and then teach the little kids sunday class and come home and take a nap. Then I am up half the night and have to get up at 5 aM on Monday morning.
this means my sleep is crazy and I have a dog who needs to be taken out what seems like every 4 hours and so my attempts to nap and fix my sleep is interrupted by phone calls, text messages, my dog, other reasons, people outside all hours of the day and night... so on so on.
But good news for me, I think things are working out better. I only woke up at 2:30 this morning and whent to sleep yesterday at about 5:30 PM and was only woken up once by my dog needing to go out.
No lunch time naps or anything. So maybe this evening I can stay up until closer to 7 PM and wake up about 3 AM. lol
I just need to give up on sleeping in on days I do not work and just get up at 5 every morning. that would fix my sleep issues.
Right, anyone wanna explain vegetarianism to me? I'm not bashing anyone, but you give up real meat to eat fake stuff, and if you're an animal rights freak, you drink watered down blob, mac and cheese with cheese substitutes, and all of that foolishness.
That's a tough one Lakeria.
It depends on why someone is vegan.
I can understand it from the I don't like killing and eating animals, but for health reasons no.
I'd agree with you there.
Vegans kill animals all the time, they just do it in a way they can justify to
themselves since they don't eat the animal. They just eat the animals home,
cause it to be run over by farmers, crushed under farm tools, drowned by
irrigation, poisoned by pesticides, buried by tillers. But they can justify that
since they're not actually eating the bugs, mice, rabbits, moles, so on and so
forth.
silver lightning that is an amazing thought about vegans. I never considered it that way but what you say makes too much sense. as for grabbing junk because it is easier. I'm with you to an extent. however, fruit comes in it's only biodegradable package, the sking, often it has it's own handle, the stem, and many are low in sugar.
someone was talking about clean foods in an earlier post. my definition is something that doesn't have a bunch of stuff I an't pronounce in it. a friend of mine also says it's something that if packaged has five ingredients or less. localy grown fresh items also count. do you realize that the average American's fruits and veggies come at least 2,500 miles to the local store. that's not a value judgment just an interesting one. low fat stuff is disgusting. taste hellman's real mayo. then taste the low fat equivalent it is so sweet that you wouldn't believe. my dear friends, it's all about portion controls. oh yes, and if we can't afford fresh fruit those little apple sauce things that kids take in lunch are cheap and good especially if they are low fat. ditto yoghurt. all good stuff.
I meant to say low sugar applesauce. yuck if it had fat in it. gerooss
I'm just gonna add this:
I know there's people on here way more versed in medical than I am. I'm just a
simple kinda engineering guy.
But seriously: Calories in, calories out is bs, here's why. So if you have a two-
stroke motor and a four-stroke motor, which one you think is gonna be more
fuel-efficient? Obviously, the one that gets four turns of the shaft per piston
pump. Obviously, people are more or less efficient fuel burners also.
Not only that:
You know that different fuels are more or less efficient. 50 BTU's of firewood is
*NOT* as efficient as 50 BTU's of gasoline if you're trying to turn a crank in an
engine. Of course, if you're trying to heat a house, the firewood would be more
efficient. And even then, certain woods burn better for different things.
So as to us, calories in calories out is just stupid, and I hope people who
actually think that start fueling their houses and cars that way, or try running
their own power plant that way, see how they like it. The fact they defer to
thermodynamics is what really grinds me. I mean, what a blatant way to
demonstrate one's incredible ignorance about energy exchange!
Oh, and big-boned is in fact a thing. I say this, because I'm small boned.
These people remind me of the people behind "The Secret" referring to string
theory and physics, as if they had any idea what they were talking about.
